Steve started life in the 50's as a guitar playing
embryo, later advancing to high school bands and local Hobart bands,
Lord Byron and the Hurricanes, supporting Kate Meehan and the likes
of Ayers Rock, Mississippi and Sherbert to name but a few well known
Aussie bands.
After conquering the badlands of Tasmania, Steve
felt it was time to move to Queensland to play to a wider audience
[and warm up]. In the Sunshine State he performed in Defunkt, Blue
Suede Shoes, Bamboo Groove, Back Dog Bob and Sandy and the Sidekicks.
These bands appeared at festivals, clubs and hotels in three states
of Australia, the largest venues being the Woodford Folk Festival
and the Gympie Muster.
Steve's musical influences are Robben Ford, Little Feat, Tab Benoit,
The Black Keys, Tony Joe White, Sonny Landreth, Johnny Hiatt, Red
Rivers...
Steve recorded his debut album, 'My Best Mistakes during 2006 featuring
a collection of original blues, country and rockabilly songs reflecting
a laconic view of life and relationships as seen through the eyes
of a nearsighted, guitar wielding, reluctant electrician.
The album received airplay throughout Australia as well as being
played in America and Europe so undeterred, he yet again spent the
rent money on a second album, 'Lost in the Forest of Blue Fingers'.
Once again, all tracks are original songs of life, lust and foolish
misadventure.
Listen to the samples and then buy the album so I can pay back
the landlord and record some more music!
PS. Still suffering from guitar acquisition syndrome aka G.A.S.
The latest addition to the collection being a Les Paul Goldtop. |
